What does it look like in the between space, before there is motion but when energy isn\u2019t actually still, either. I wanted to explore that balancing point in a dynamic Universe, like the one in which I live.<br \/>\nAs much as I imagine the classic stillness of meditation, I\u2019ve never experienced it. Sure, I\u2019ve spent many hours in meditation\u2026but even in that stillness there\u2019s motion. Life is never quite as peaceful as the pictures depict. Cars zoom by outside. Wind moves the leaves. My own heart beats on. Always, there\u2019s something in motion.<\/p>\n<p>The point where yin becomes yang within the motion is the point that interested me. This piece looks at the fluidity of motion needed to come to that still point. I used a dye-later technique to create this work, focusing first on the underpinnings of motion then layering dyes on top of that to create the foundation of the work.
