Faerie Lands Await is a snapshot taken in the space between moments when we catch a glimpse of a world beyond our own, one that shakes up what we know to be true. In such moments, the colors of our own world shift radically. Our focus changes in ways we didn’t predict. The Veil we normally see as solid suddenly dissolves and we see through the surface of what we know into a deeper Divine truth. They leave us, if only for a moment, on the cusp of Knowing, wishing we could somehow freeze the world just long enough to step through and explore.
I’ve thought a lot about the Veil and what lies beyond. I catch glimpses of those spaces in the skin of trees, of houses, of hills, of sky. They call my attention, demanding I let go for just a moment of whatever I might believe to be true and allow myself to see the Divinity before me. This, I think, must be the doorway into another Realm.

My Thoughts on the Work
Through a series of conversations with Sheryl LeBlanc I began to explore how one might communicate the experience of encountering the Veil. The nature of that space where we can perceive those boundaries is ephemeral and hard to grasp. Those who’ve encountered it often find putting what they’ve learned into words or even images. It’s a unique experience for each of us, and it’s one that carries us beyond the normal ways we make sense of our world.
This piece was my first attempt at translating my own experiences into a symbolic language. I love the contrast of the chenille sky and grass plaines with the tree, rock, and hills. I love the colors of the porch and house peeking through the tree trunk. Both of those elements hint at the way seeing beyond or into the Veil skews your perception of the world.
This isn’t necessarily my favorite or best piece ever. The composition is probably quite lacking from a classical artistic perspective. Even so, it captures at least a hint of the space I wanted to share. For a first attempt, it ain’t bad.
