Fiber Arts Talk: February 17, 2-4 pm, New Zone Gallery

Join us for a glimpse into the world of Fiber Artistry. Although fiber has been an intimate part of our lives for centuries upon centuries, it’s a relative new comer to the Fine Arts scene. Fiber Artists use a mix of fine art tools and craft techniques to accomplish a mixed style of artwork that speaks to us on so many levels. We’ll be talking about the Art Quilt and how this art form reaches into the worlds of Fine Art and of Hearth and Home like no other. We’ll take a look at a treasure trove of examples up close and answer questions about where the Art Quilt stands in the modern art world today.

About the Show…

Fire, Water, Earth, Air: Elemental Fiber Arts

Artist Statement:
The elements have an intrinsic and primal place in our lives. Whether we think about them or not, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air shape our lives from the most intimate to the most grand. We weave the elements into our stories daily and into the art we make. This collection of Art Quilts was created with those elements front and center by our Fiber Arts Group, Valley South. Join us at New Zone Gallery in February for a taste of Elemental Fiber Art and a doorway into the world of Fire, Water, Earth, Air.
