Fire Under Earth

In the Ring of Fire, we all live with Fire under Earth. The Iching describes this energy as Darkness, a time when the Earth swallows the Sun. It’s uncomfortable for many. What do you do when the world has become so overwhelming that you can no longer feel the sunshine on your cheeks?

Put your feet on the ground, bare and open to all She has to offer. Reach deeply. You’ll feel Fire under Earth. It seeps up through the landscape, igniting the wild, fueling the creative, shaping the Medicine of this land. Fire under Earth is Fire within. Let yourself see it, and there will be no more darkness.

My Thoughts on the Work

As I worked on this piece, I kept returning to the comfort I feel here in the Pacific Northwest, where the Earth’s energy runs so close to the surface we have lava fields in the mountains and the forests catch fire every year. This is a place layered in fire, earth, and water. Fire has shaped much of our landscape. Earth and Water balance Fire’s power, giving us a lush and sometimes dramatic world where deep healing really is possible.

I was gifted with a lot inspiration from my Muse while I worked on this piece. It was a joy to create, and I was surprised by the intensity and beauty of the colors and shapes when it was done.
